“Yoga is the journey of the self through the self”
- Bhagavad Gita

Is rooted in the techniques of Ashtanga Vinyasa, Viniyoga and Iyengar styles of Yoga. Vinyasa is more of a modern style of Yoga that allows the teachers to create their own sequence of poses.

Vinyasa in Sanskrit means to ‘link poses in a special way’ and refers to the Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskara) performed within a Vinyasa Yoga class. The ancient Vedic texts speak of the sun as the source of life. Many rituals were based around worshipping the sun and it could be from these rituals that Surya Namaskara evolved.

The style is popular with Western students as the movement in between poses keeps the students mind active, helping them transition from their busy day and ‘go go’ energy into a more peaceful state and ready for relaxation.

Vinyasa Flow

Yoga is an ancient healing system that offers tangible benefits to everyone regardless of their spiritual beliefs and physical abilities. It has profound effects on a person’s physical, emotional and mental wellbeing.

On the physical side Yoga balances out the left and the right side of the body, correcting poor posture and imbalances. It keeps an overall mobility in the body, which would otherwise stiffen up with age. As the body is bent and stretched internal organs are massaged, the cardiovascular system oxygenated, the endocrine and hormonal systems balanced and the nervous system stimulated helping to soothe and calm the mind.

My Style

Mixes a gentle but strong Vinyasa Flow to warm up the body, increase mobility and strength and ending with a more Yin practice, whereby the poses are held for longer than a traditional Vinyasa class to open up the body and increase flexibility.

I love Vinyasa with its continuous movement and focus on the breath allowing students to transition from their busy days and then slowing things down to deeper stretches and finally transitioning into the relaxation part of the class.

The Savasana (relaxation) is my favourite part of the class. I am known for my calming voice and often get asked if I can record my voice for students to take home!

I am passionate about teaching newbies and I run regular beginners courses, in the hope that they too will get the ‘Yoga bug!’

Yoga is a way of life for me on and off the mat! I never get bored of reading Yogic Philosophy, citing mantras and practising Pranayama (breath techniques) which I weave into my classes.

Have you always wanted to try Yoga but never had the opportunity, or felt that you were unable to? Felt that you’re too old, not flexible enough, or have limitations due to injuries/surgeries? Let me put your mind at rest.
