Everyone has his or her own story for discovering Yoga.  

I have had a start/stop love affair with Yoga since I was 18 but it wasn’t until October 2014 that Yoga changed my life.

After a long fertility and IVF journey, we lost our first child in labour, at full term. 

Coming home from hospital without my daughter Nicole, was the darkest moment of my life. I had never experienced grief as physical pain before, I couldn’t breathe, I had frequent panic attacks and I didn't know how I would get through the day. Life as I knew or was expecting changed in an instant.

The only thing I felt capable of doing was Yoga in which I found my salvation. It gave me strength; mentally, physically and emotionally. Through regular asana practice, sadhana (reciting mantras and meditation) and well as nourishing my body with good foods and the support of my husband, family and good friends, I was able to sit with the uncomfortable feelings of pain and despair letting them run over me until they passed. Because of Yoga, I was still able to see the beauty and light in life even in my darkest moments. It was through the practice and techniques of Yoga that I slowly brought back to life.

The power and magic of Yoga astonishes me everyday. I thank Yoga and all the teachers that came before me for passing down their knowledge that inspire me, and for the healing system of Yoga that allows me to come back to my Self.
